Lenses aren't just lenses! The part of your new glasses that makes you see better is in the lens material, design and quality. There are literally thousands of lens choices available, most lenses have faults that you may not even be able to notice. Quality lenses can give you better vision than you have ever achieved previously with spectacles.
Progressive Lenses
Progressive (Multi-focal) lenses are the most advanced lenses ever made. They are the most common type of lenses for people working at various distances. Progressive lenses allow people to read and work on a computer, and also be able to look over the other side of the room, office, walk and drive.
Progressive lenses have the largest variance in quality than any form of lens, because they need to be so accurate. Quality can vary from lenses that have particularly restrictive vision in the visual areas, through to comfortable vision with particularly large visual areas from the words most advanced lenses from company's like Carl Zeiss, Rodenstock, Nikon, Essilor and Hoya.
Progressives are our specialty, and we guarantee success
We only use the most successful lenses available, and recommend some of the best lenses in the world to increase comfort and vision for every patient. Most practices don't have access to these specialty lenses, or aren't experienced enough to understand the benefits of these particular lenses. Why take the risk of reduced comfort and vision for the next few years, when you could instead be using the latest lenses in the world. How important is your vision?
Single vision lenses
Single vision lenses are lenses with only one power or focus in them. This can be in most cases simplified into distance and near lenses. The eye is easily described as focusing with a series of muscles, and this allows you to be able to see at various distances. When you over work your eye muscles from constant computer use, prolonged reading or long periods conentrating for things like driving, you can suffer from headaches and eye strain. This is similar to walking from Canberra to Goulburn, you start off nice and fresh, but progressively ache and struggle to reach the end. Your eyes can feel like this when they are tired and over worked, and would benefit greatly from glasses, just as you would always prefer to drive to Goulburn than walk! Its not age related in most cases, as people of all ages have similar problems now, from children through to seniors getting their first spectacles.
Distance lenses
Distance lenses are made from a resin material similar to plastic, and come in various density products to help with thinning out higher prescriptions. Lenses now days come with what is called an "anti-reflection" coating which cuts the glare produced by artificial light sources like flurescent lights, down lights, headlights, television and in particular computer screens. In the past this was an optional coating, but it is used on all lenses now because of the use of these types of lighting being predominant in todays life.
Near lenses
Near lenses or reading glasses have long been associated with age related problems with the eyes, but it is particularly common for people of all ages to have benefits from near lenses for either reading or computer work. Almost everyone now spends at least some time in front of a computer every single day, where as 10 years ago only a few people spent just some of their week on a computer. Near lenses are made from the same materials as distance lenses, with the same "anti-reflection" coatings to reduce the glare from sources like computer screens and high intensity lighting.

Sunglasses
Prescription sunglasses have in the past been restrictive on frame designs and styles, but at Insight Optical almost 80% of sunglasses in stock can be successfully used in most common types of prescriptions for sunglasses. Modern designs and colours are something Insight Optical has targeted from suppliers, in order to offer customers such a variety of fashionable and practical sunglass frames. Choose from modern styles, high fashion and sport ranges from Escada, Trussardi, Gatorz, Adidas, Elle, Esprit and Ryders.
VDU (computer) lenses
VDU or computer users can experience a particular eye strain from time spent concentrating at a fixed length for extended periods of time. This type of problem is particularly common now days with work environments changing and a growing reliance on computers in most work situations. Sometimes this is the only time a person may need help to see comfortably on a daily basis.
The problem with computer work is that it is set at a length between distance glasses and reading glasses, so neither can work successfully at this distance, or at varying distances like the telephone, reading matter, the desk top and beyond... This is where you can benefit from specific forms of graduated lenses or "near biased" progressive lenses specifically designed for purely computer and desk work.
For people already wearing reading, distance or even progressive lenses, specific VDU lenses will guarantee easier use for focusing at distances from 30cm (reading distance) through to 1.2 meters in most prescriptions. This will then offer you the most comfortable and least compromised vision and comfort whilst working and using a computer. No other lens can offer you this level of usability, and is designed as an addition to any other type of lens you may already be using. Count how long you spend in these situations, and how much easier this time could be calculated over a week or even a year! |
